Much like everywhere else, we've had our hot spells and on one of those notoriously steamy days I suggested we go out for a family picnic and fishing at a nearby park and Mississippi River backwater. We lunched in a well-shaded gazebo and Troy took the kids fishing at the nearby dock. Only Zada noticed we didn't have any bait or hooks on the kids' lines, a realization that only momentarily dampened her enjoyment, and Darby wet his first line and not his pants, so that was cheering news as well.
