The summer's big event

I hate to tell you this, but you may have already missed the summer's big event. Those of you who were there know what I am talking about, Grandma Ginny's 90th birthday party. This old sweetheart was born 90 years ago today and last Saturday was her now infamous party. Roughly 150 people gathered in the Hope United Methodist Church basement and lunched on chicken wild rice salad, lunchmeat bun sandwiches, fruit kabobs and, of course, birthday cake.

We celebrated with funny stories about her:

  • driving up precarious Minneapolis Avenue
  • routinely getting "lost" en route to her house
  • talking with everyone at the grocery store, and I mean everyone
  • burping and reburping her tupperware
  • rooster alarm clock
  • one-piece gold snowsuit
  • penchant for taking the grandkids to the cemetery...and so much more.

This is a gal who not only has had a lot of years in her life, but also so much life in her years. Happy birthday Grandma Ginny, thanks for making it legendary.
