Happy trails Armada!

We said goodbye to the Armada today, so long to our coast-to-coast chariot.

Hot day at the ballpark

It's the bottom of the third inning and so far we've eaten popcorn, two hot dogs, a pretzel, a water, a Gatorade and two frozen ices, one double lemon and one verry strawberry.

Not patiently waiting

I was so hoping to find out today who Zada would have for a first-grade teacher, but so far I have been thwarted in my efforts. Apparently the school isn't quite ready to release the info, although the parent handbook, dated Aug. 10, said the information should be posted by Aug. 28! Boo. I guess I'll go make dinner, anyone up for fresh crab salad? Crab cakes? Sullen salmon with a side of crab?

91 and still kicking it

We recently celebrated Grandma Ginny's 91st birthday with her, what a blessing.

Finally at the farm

Also on our summer fun list was "go to the farm," which we finally did tonight during their open house and farmers market. The kids loved seeing farm life as it was in 1900 and even chances to see Darby's friend from preschool, Zachary (pictured in the red shirt). We consider ourselves pretty lucky to have such a neat place so close to home.

On the bright side...

We've had some challenges this week at our house, but I'm doing my best to stay optimistic, so here are pictures of what I am grateful for in my very own backyard.

True to our mission

Today we are living up to our blog name by having an old-fashioned Perkins breakfast, complete with rainbow pancakes and a bottomless pot of coffee. We will surely feel better after we're done eating (and napping).

Living the dream

Nothing makes me feel more American than serving my kids a meal in the car. Here they are enjoying some Potbelly's sandwiches and milk between painting pottery at a local studio and Darby's afternoon nature camp.

Ever the international trendsetter, I ate my lunch al fresco watching Zada play at the park. : )
