Sleepover!
Guess who has commandeered the top bunk in Darby's room? We made it official by moving her quilt in last night. I know it won't last forever, but I like to see them be buddies every once in a while.

Hard to believe
It's surreal for me to think I finally finished this t-shirt quilt for Darby. It has been a long time coming and I am so pleased with the results. I worked in all kinds of his favorite duds (and some of mine as well), and I mixed in some groovy prints that would hopefully tie it all together.
I owe a debt of gratitude to my sister, who committed all of last weekend to helping me 'bring it home.' I am so fortunate to have her support and that of Troy, who always believed I would get this done someday!

First day of preschool
Today was the first drop-off day for Darby's preschool. He did swimmingly and was very happy when I picked him up! He is at the same school as last year but with new teachers. They seem nice so far and said he had a great first day.

Hemming it up!
I actually hemmed some jeans today. I took a moment to marvel at my handiwork, take some pictures and then got on to the rest of my list. Completing tasks like this make me feel like a real grown-up (as a 35 year-old mom of two), but who knows, next thing I might even make a Sunday roast!

Small harvest
I picked the first of the autumn raspberries this morning. We're hopeful of a few more handfuls this year, maybe a whole cup by next summer.

Pillowcase dress project
A trade-off for Zada being gone all day is that I'm finding myself with some time again, hence the completed pillowcase dress pictured below. I started this project last summer and luckily cut it to a big enough size so Zada can wear it now. I'm so relieved to finish something, it almost makes me want to start something else!
I guess the name comes from when women used a pillowcase as the material to get a child's dress made quickly. Maybe I'll just try that next time!

Finally, the zoo
On our robust list of summer ideas, going to the zoo was the last one to be accomplished. We went there yesterday and last night took great satisfaction in crossing it off.
It was a hot day, as you might have guessed, so even the animals felt like they needed a nap! Zada's favorite thing was eating some dipping dots and Darby liked the zebras, though when pressed he really liked all the animals.
