Green initiative
Over the last year, we've been working on earning all of our Family Fun badges, a program through disney's Family Fun magazine. This month's badge is Going Green and we think we have something to fit the bill. The pie is in the oven and smelling good already!

All mixed up and backwards
Something about this week has gotten me all turned around; I thought Tuesday was Wednesday, today was Thursday, but maybe Saturday, I'm blaming the fickle weather, too much coffee or my head just being a little detached from my body.
Today Darby, Zada and I went to a Pinkalicious musical in Anoka with Zada's Girl Scout troop. We all enjoyed the hour-long presentation quite a bit. If you have read this children's story you'll know the main character catches a case of pinkatitis after eating one too many pink cupcakes and has to eat copious amounts of green foods to cure the condition, only to have her little brother fall victim to it the next day.
Zada and I are looking forward to a day camp trip with her Girl Scout friends tomorrow. I have our bandanas and reusable water bottles all ready to go. I wonder if they'll have us make sit-upons?

Our boy at four
Our boy at four is a funny thing,
He's known to dance and joke and sing.
He wishes on stars and rides his bike
There all sorts of foods he's learned to like.
He's making friends and recalling fun,
He's playing games and watching the sun.
His sister thinks he's just the best,
Except when she feels he's a total pest.
He's fond of sleeping, movies and Cars,
Reading and coloring and playing Star Wars.
Darby's our boy, and now he's four.
Really, could we ask for more?
Happy birthday Darby!

All better
Zada has returned to form and to school, leaving me and Darby to our plans for the day: first, another breakfast roll; second, play in the playroom; third, take bath and put on clean Cars 2 shirt (Darby), get dressed for workout and order cupcakes for kids' birthday party (Betsy); fourth, have mac and cheese for lunch...
It's fair to say Darby has been heavily involved in today's plan.

The yakk is back
Zada threw up again last night and therefore has been couch-bound today. Scrapped were my plans of volunteering at Darby's school this morning and Zada's school this afternoon. Instead I pushed through the offensive amount of dirty laundry we'd been collecting and thanked God my kids are reasonably healthy. I don't know how those Ronald McDonald House families do it!

Signs
Somedays it feels like we should carry a sign like this with us wherever we go, but on this day in particular we earned it, by spilling 16 ounces of milk on the table and floor. No crying was reported.

The biffy
I guess there's no need to finish off the basement bathroom. They just delivered this today. This year's model is much more colorful, splashy even.
I should start a pool on how many times the wind will knock this over before they pick it up in the fall. Last summer it was a good half-dozen times.

So glad to be together
Lisa, Greg and Ainsley trekked north last weekend to spend a happy Easter with us. Here are the kids wearing their Easter morning smiles.

Progress
Zada is out from under the blanket, but not off the couch. Another night/morning of hurling means day 2 movie marathon at our house.

Puker!
Somewhere under this blanket is a little girl with a mild case of the throw-ups. I'm watching the clock to decide if and when she might be able to attend school tomorrow.

Basketball boys
We came home from Girl Scouts just in time for the NCAA mens basketball championship game. The boys had already assumed their positions.
